phil.

Standard

puxatawny phil with some other (less famous) celebs.

it’s his big day, and one of my favorite fun holidays

no matter what he predicts

about the coming of spring

(*not sure about his accuracy)

 i love his spirit.

*the national climatic data center compared U.S. national temperatures from 1988 to 2012 to determine the accuracy of Phil’s predictions, and he’s only been proven correct 39% of the time — significantly worse than chance.

do you remember?

Standard

who remembers this?

sitting backwards

making faces

rolling around on turns

cigarette smoke-filled air

fighting over who could sit there

the door that swung open

back window down

best seat ever.

“listen, don’t forget this.

don’t let this slip your mind.

most of us, if we’re lucky,

we see a few seconds of the high life.

and the rest are the residue years.”

life changing.

who knew it could be so cheap and easy to change your life?

that it could even be on sale if you timed it right?

that for a buck fifty each, you could change two lives.?

this sweet and treasured tiger

making it even more special

there is an added joy in knowing that someone took the time

to design such a fun custom accessory for this much loved creature.

unusually.

Standard

why, you might ask, is this large ceramic cat sitting in the water?

while visiting my friend’s house

i asked.

years ago

someone in the family took a ceramics class

made several large animals

gifted them to his children

who gifted them to each other

left them at each others’ houses

used them in a variety of ways

including an outdoor towel holder

somehow over time

this one went to live in the water

looking back at the family on the shore

probably thinking the family was unusual

wondering their story

there is always a story.

“we are not interested in the unusual, but in the usual seen unusually.”

from rogueNASA – “Ok, so far we’ve had a pandemic, race wars, a global economic collapse, a presidential impeachment, Brexit, murder hornets, and a contested election. Am I missing anything?”
