when i stop at the light on this corner
what i see
is
always different
yet
always the same
this is the stop
where you get on the bus
and
go straight to the airport
i’ve seen people
hugging
crying
laughing
talking
celebrating
calling
texting
alone
together
worried
whispering
excited
wondering
so many different goodbyes
and
i sometimes wonder
what they say to each other
just before
one steps
onto that bus
and
one is left behind
on the sidewalk
they all have a story and a reason
maybe to return to somewhere or someone
maybe for an adventure
maybe to see the world
maybe to leave a bad situation behind
maybe to meet someone for the first time
maybe to get better
maybe to help someone
maybe to realize a dream
maybe they’re not yet sure
but there is one thing that is certain
someone is leaving
and
someone is coming.

thank you in advance
to all those who
i may cross paths with.
you could find yourself
smack in the middle
of my blog
one day
or seven.
family, friends,
random strangers, animals
and
those who cannot be categorized.
i am
endlessly fascinated by your stories
and
never judge you for them
but
instead
always learn something
from you
because of them.

we learned about artist frida kahlo and how she created images of herself,
with things that had meaning to her placed all around.
here, h shares her collage with our class,
and it shows us
that she loves flowers, animals, sweets, and celebrations of all kinds.
no words are needed to tell her story.
