  1. “The more civilized man becomes, the more he needs and craves a great background of forest wildness, to which he may return like a contrite prodigal from the husks of an artificial life.”- Ellen Burns Sherman

  2. We visited our ‘chosen daughter’ on Saturday. On a walk she told (and showed) us new graffiti of very high quality on the walls of passenger passages. The city is giving those walls free every month to artists who may graffiti to their likes. They submit plans and if approved, the chosen wall is theirs for 30 days. They have several underpasses (trains, streets) and we were amazed by the creativity and variety of the ‘paintings and writings’. We thought it was a brilliant idea.

  3. Words carry a lot of weight. One of my good friends at our local university paints rocks with positive messages with students who work with her in the library. They distribute them for students to find around campus.
