It took a month to make some of the incredible snow sculptures that were part of the annual Michigan Technological University Winter Carnival. Phi Kappa Tau extended its winning streak to five years with a huge rendition of Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory. (Photo: Daniel Staelgraeve | Michigan Technological University)

Such skill on display there. Just a pity they have to melt.
Best wishes, Pete.

lucky for that, the snow sticks around for a long time up there, sometimes into spring

This is amazing. Their attention to detail is superb. I bet they could build one hell of a sand castle.

isn’t it though? I’m sure they’d do great in most any medium

What amazing sculptures and skill! They have the perfect “medium” at hand just yooping as yoopers do! Thank you, Beth! 💙 ❄️

And ice sculptures are very similar to sand castles, doomed to melt.

yes, only temporary, but they have a really long snow season

The sculptors know the creations will melt. Doesn’t matter! The fun is in the doing. And there’s always next year to do it all over again. Planning for next winter’s project is probably already in the making.

Yes, always temporary, but they do keep their snow for a very long time

I love this reminder, Beth. For many years, I lived just about 20 minutes from MTU, in Laurium, MI. This was quite an annual event! I miss the beauty of the area every day.
