kinder are on the lookout
making sure
the leprechauns
don’t sneak back in
to spread all the green
throughout our room again
but somehow they still got in
and worked their merry mischief.

And when you finally need trifocals to find those wonders just think of it …. as the wolf said, “The better to see you, my dear.”

The Easter Bunny was the mischief maker at our house. Easter grass strewn everywhere, construction paper foot prints, and clues. Once one of their baskets was in the dryer for goodness sake!

Oh, how I love this curiosity, this imaginativeness. This reminds me of my first grade granddaughter. Izzy contrived a leprechaun trap from cardboard, complete with a mini plastic pot of gold and a rainbow drawn on the exterior. She caught a leprechaun after I advised her mom that “you could just put a paper leprechaun in that trap.” She found an old assignment sheet with a leprechaun thereon, cut it out and placed the mini mischievous guy in the trap. The result: One happy leprechaun catcher!

This is the cutest thing ever…kind of like listening and waiting for tooth fairy, Santa Claus, Easter bunny, and all those other unseen, magical, wonders of our childhood. π

Lucky the Leprechaun did the same thing in my classroom. Twice. Gloria had fun, but the children never saw him. E.B. White’s quote is spot on.
