when you’ve recently climbed way back up onto the healthy wagon
you have to choose between
the warm fudgy chocolate cake and creamy vanilla ice cream with a dark chocolate drizzle
or
the healthy fresh green juice
you make a deal with yourself
indulge in a bit of chocolate wonder right now
drink the magic green elixir
for your next meal
(which should offset all you’ve just eaten, call it even)
but somehow
the juice never makes it home
so the universe
has made the the decision for you.

It’s hard when you live with someone who eats anything and everything with ease. I just wish he’d hide the cookies.

I would take it as a message from the universe – have a cheat day and don’t look back 🥴

but perhaps not consider it a “cheat” day but rather a “soul tending” day

I’ve been dieting hard recently, because of my diabetes, but every now and then I have some ‘real’ ice-cream … my sweet-tooth needs his ‘fix'(anyhow, that’s my excuse!)

We recently found a spectacular fudgey (is that a word? It certainly describes the outcome!) brownie recipe with no bad-for-you ingredients, and that wonderful rich texture and that delectable chocolate taste. Heaven!

Honestly, all food is good food. The goal is to not be hungry, so I fully endorse this message. Feed your soul with what it wants.

Green juice is best ingested as a lone meal, says this guy who has never drank any green juice. Hope the healthy wagon rolls on, Beth!

Beth, love how your poem gets the real struggle of choosing between the tempting chocolate fantasy and the virtuous green juice. Your words capture that everyday battle so perfectly. Thanks for putting a smile on my face with your take on this relatable, delicious dilemma!

The struggle is real—every day of my life. When I indulge as I did yesterday, I try and get back on the wagon the next day.

Food consumption levels have been at an all-time high this Holiday, so it is time to level off…but chocolate cake? Ok, I can wait another day or two.😁

It’s OK to indulge occasionally. Life is too short to skip the chocolate.
