created in the style of an old-style viennese cafe
amadeus restaurant
downtown ann srbor
warm, intimate, lovely
live classical music on weekends
soft glowing ambience
attentive servers
with dishes
representing central europe
(poland, hungary and austria)
european wines and beers
rich coffee
finish with homemade desserts, pastries or tortes
after so much beautiful food, impossible to do
we must come back.
“*Rock Me Amadeus.”
-Falco
* lyric from song recorded by Austrian musician Falco. To date, the single is the only German language song to peak at number one of the Billboard Hot 100. It was Falco’s only number one hit in both the United States and the United Kingdom, despite his popularity in his native Austria and much of Europe.
I would definitely go there!
Best wishes, Pete.

Sounds fab. Buy yourselves a season ticket! And live music; wow….. Have you seen the film Amadeus? Fun, great and mostly untrue but so well made that we have watched it at least 2 if not 3 times!

What I love about Viennese coffee houses (and we’re just all going to pretend it’s NOT the huge display cases of unbelievable Viennese pastries…) Crisply ironed newspapers on wood hanging rods, a separate menu for the coffees, the glass of water that comes with your coffee ‘to clear the palate’, old-school waiters in suit and tie at traditional coffeehouses like Cafe Mozart or Cafe Schwarzenberg.

Yes, and this one was tiny, but you’ve described it well. Now I want to go to Europe to see for myself

I had walked by this place for years, and it looked interesting, but had limited hours, (family owned so makes sense), and finally – ah!

This sounds so much like my beloved bistro, right down to having live classical music!
If you’re interested, I wrote a piece about it – Bistro
