if you watched, didn’t watch, or sort of watched off and on
the oscars/academy awards aired last night.
i’m a huge fan of films of all kinds
and I thought
if they were really made out of chocolate
if I were to ever win an oscar
it might be a very fleeting moment of fame for me
a challenge for the paparazzi
as it would no longer exist after a few minutes
i’m a huge fan of chocolate of all kinds as well
but every nibble so worth it.
here is the only Oscar to have ever won an Oscar
Oscar Hammerstein II for his song,
‘The Last Time I Saw Paris,’ in the movie, ‘Lady Be Good’ in 1941
—
‘there’s a lot of great movies that have won the Academy Award,
and a lot movies that haven’t.
you just do the best you can.

I did not watch. Changed channels after the first ….. few minutes. But am happy for others who enjoyed.

it always goes long and I rarely make it to the end, including this year, but I did enjoy conan as a host and there are parts of it I do really enjoy

Yes, it is what we are interested in. I never heard of Conan and that might be why I didn’t understand his jokes. I used to watch years ago. I put up watching soccer games because my husband grew up playing and loves watching. :)

conan o’brien has been an comedian for a long time, and had a late night show that got bumped by jay Leno. he’s smart and funny and gracious and never mean. good we have lots of choices of what to watch these days.

I haven’t watched The Oscars for a very long time now. The time difference doesn’t help, and I have rarely been able to see any of the nominated films. But chocolate statuettes is a great idea!
Best wishes, Pete.

and there’s generally a highlight reel if interested, and I often don’t make it through the whole show it can certainly get long and dragged out, but yes, glad you’re onboard with the chocolate version.

I find award shows incredibly tedious and prefer to read about who won what after the event.

I often don’t make it though the whole thing, but I do enjoy it overall, depending on the host

Beth, this is clever and fun! I love how you mixed the idea of chocolate with the fleeting nature of fame.

That would certainly be a sustainable way to host the Awards!
I stayed up till the end, shockingly, this year. Glad for all the winners although I felt bad Demi Moore lost at the final stretch when she’s done so well all season.

I didn’t make it to the end, though I tried and I would have loved for her to win. I am happy the smaller films has some big wins and also was rooting for Demi. yes, to the sustainability of the chocolate awards –

This year I just knew a couple of names of best picture nominees. How did we ever get to 10 (ten!) best picture nominees!?

right! I’ve always loved the smaller films and so knew of most of these and happy that some won

I used to go to the movies every single week. Now I go maybe once a year. Suffice it to say, I did not watch this year’s ceremony. But I’m down for chocolate!

I agree with Vicki. What a great quote from Clint Eastwood. I’ve been watching his movies lately. There are so many that I’ve never seen.

I watched the Oscars off and on. Mostly because I wanted to hear if any “statements” were made and some were. Also to see the dresses. I haven’t been to a movie since I walked out of one in 2019. But after watching the awards ceremony, there are a few movies in the new group that I’d like to see. Which would you recommend?

I haven’t seen many of the winners, but Conclave and Flow and Elimia Perez all look great. Also the Nickel Boys is supposed to be very good. I saw A Complete Unknown, about the early Bob Dylan days and it was very well done.
