today, i’ll be working at the polls as an election protector,
making sure that everyone who is registered can vote

In this day and age, “poll protector” sounds a bit scary. I think here we just have “poll watchers.” But I sure appreciate your doing it!! So very important!

Less and less people vote here these days – it’s about time we followed Australia’s example and made it compulsory.
