all i see is a heart

that i have crossed paths

with a sweet and amazing

canine artist.

“to fashion stars out of dog dung,

that is the great work.

to take a negative experience and,

by comparing it to something worse,

make it feel good, is a great skill. “

Dante Gabriel Rossetti – Washing Hands

today the detroit institute of arts

did their part to keep people safe and to aid in their healing.

art helps people in so many unexpected ways

and seems to naturally have that power.

 —

‘Just as surgeons need to keep a sterile environment for the health of their patients, the DIA’s conservation, collections management, and curatorial teams often use protective equipment to preserve the health of the museum’s artworks. Today, we gathered up those materials — including Tyvek suits, swabs, masks, P95 mask cartridges, wiping cloths and 3,000 nitrile gloves — and delivered them to local hospitals.’ – dia

“at the deepest level.

the creative process and the healing process arise from a single source.

when you are an artist,

you are a healer;

a wordless trust of the same mystery

is the foundation of your work and your integrity.”

a little kindness.

Standard

in our after-school art club

the children painted kindness stones

and hid them in the garden

for other children to find

knowing it would make them smile

when they discovered these secret stones

hoping they would do the same for others

passing on their surprise and joy

upon finding a bit of kindness

left just to make them happy

and then hiding them again

for others to discover.

“a little thought and a little kindness are often worth more than a great deal of money.”

for those of you who’ve followed, read, or commented on my posts over the years

I’ve finally put my finger on my ‘writing style’

it’s collage

and no surprise to anyone who knows me outside of the blogging world

it goes along with the creative outlets I’ve always enjoyed

making cards, books, and art

using pieces of things I’ve found, read, and collected in the world

it’s simply a matter of combining

images, thoughts, prose, quotes, poetry, music, and ideas

that generally don’t begin together

but once gathered

looked at in new ways

rearranged mixed and shuffled

like a puzzle with no absolute solution

suddenly seeming to belong together

to bring new meaning

when combined into a whole

my blog is the same

but the difference is

rather than being made of anything concrete

 it’s abstract

it’s a mix of electronic media

it can vanish into the ethernet at any time.

like all of life

it’s about making connections.

and having lived a while

I suppose I am a bit of a collage myself.

“every art I do is a collage.”
