A Florida woman filed a class action lawsuit against Kraft Heinz … claiming its Velveeta Shells & Cheese prep time is not actually “ready in 3 1/2” minutes, as advertised.
She states that the 3.5 minutes is only the amount of time the food has to go in the microwave and claims it takes more time to actually prepare the meal — don’t forget you’ve got to pour water into the cup and stir in the cheese sauce.
She doesn’t say how long it takes her, but claims the 4 steps listed in the directions — remove the lid and cheese sauce pouch, add water to the fill line and stir, microwave for 3 1/2 minutes, and then stir in the cheese sauce — don’t equate to the mac actually being READY to eat in that time frame.
She’s also looking to put together a class of customers who might also be upset about the prep time and says the damages will exceed $5 million.
“We are aware of this frivolous lawsuit and will strongly defend against the allegations in the complaint,” the company reportedly told USA Today.
*editorial opinion: what if she was to devote all of the time and energy and money it is taking her to create, publicize, rally people, and carryout this lawsuit, and instead, use it as the ‘extra unplanned prep time’ she feels she is wasting and it requires, when making her shells and cheese? or, make it from scratch and compare the prep time needed. just a thought… (beth)

Burger King is causing a stir in Thailand with its new offering: a burger with no meat and a jaw-dropping amount of cheese. This week, the Thai operator of the fast food chain introduced what it calls the “real cheeseburger,” a bun filled with as many as 20 slices of American cheese.
The item launched on Thai menus Sunday, at a reduced price of 109 Thai baht ($3.1), compared with the usual price of 380 baht ($10.9). It quickly went viral on social media in Thailand, with many users on TikTok posting videos of them trying the new sandwich. “This is no joke. This is for real,” Burger King said.
At one Burger King branch in Bangkok on Tuesday, a shift manager was overheard saying the outlet had to stop taking delivery orders so they could have enough stock left for walk-in diners.
The menu addition is an example of how fast food franchises around the world are seeking to gain traction by rolling out zany or eye-catching menu options that they hope will spread across social media.
Restaurants are also continuously tailoring their offerings to suit local tastes in different countries. In Thailand, cheese is especially popular among young customers, and it is common for it to be sprinkled on all kinds of dishes.

A single serving of Kellog’s Froot Loops cereal clocks in at one and one-third cups, weighs 39 grams, and contains 150 calories, according to the nutrition facts printed on the side of the box. Though we’ve never actually counted how many loops are in that single serving, we assume it’s more than one. Oh, you only want one? OK then. Big Fruit Loop is here to deliver.
The Big Fruit Loop is just as the name implies: a single massive loop. It’s also a very much unauthorized version of the longtime breakfast cereal, and it’s the latest drop from Brooklyn-based art collective MSCHF.
That one big loop contains 930 calories and weighs around half a pound, or the equivalent of about half a box of regular Froot Loops mashed into one bowl-filling monstrosity. There’s absolutely no reason for it to exist, which seems to be exactly why MSCHF decided to create it.
“With MSCHF, we are always looking at cultural readymades we can play with,” Daniel Greenberg, MSCHF’s co-founder, told Food & Wine via email. “Cereal is, of course, one of those things. When looking at the object and thinking about what we could do with it, enlarging it to fit the size of the box seemed too perfect to pass up.”
Greenberg declined to explain what the production process for the Big Fruit Loop was like, other than to admit that “it was not easy.” He also said that the company had to reverse-engineer its loop to match the flavor of the Kellogg’s originals. To Greenberg, the two kinds of cereal taste “almost identical.” You know, minus one being gigantic and all.
