goldilocks and the three mares.

once upon a time

there was a woman

(who was me)

whose hair

had a life of its own

and she

had made plans

with 3 of her very dearest friends

for a long memorial day weekend getaway

to nashville

but then

she got

really sick

and her hair

was wilder than ever

a sure sign

of

something

amiss

and

she

had to tell them

to go on without her

but they said

there is no way

we will do that

and so

they each offered up

their support

and found a solution

in their very own way

‘i will drive you all the way there.

you can sleep in the car and listen to music.

you won’t have to fly and hurt your ears and suffer any more.’

mare#2

said

‘i will provide you with any medication

and comforting therapy

you might need.’

mare #3

said

‘come with us

and we will

tuck you in

and

bring you soup

and

hot water bottles

and

tea

and

whiskey

and

magazines.’

and goldilocks

was so moved

by their gestures

and their compassion

that she went to the doctor

and he gave her mega antibiotics

and got on the plane

and went on the trip

anyway

and

danced

and

sang

and

ate southern bbq

and drank a whiskey

and listened to the blues

in a beautiful park

and had a wonderful time

with each and every one of them

and they all continue to live happily ever after

as friends for life

a day for toil, an hour for sport, but for a friend is life too short.

library of congress

had a nice offer

from

an

‘adult novelty catalog company’

to advertise

on my blog

and i smiled

and thanked them

when

i

turned them down

and

thought about

what

my posts

are

really

all about

nature, animals, philosophy,  humor, zen, children, travel, art. life, family, love, compassion, adventure

not so much about dancing girls

and their costumes

and their toys

and their boys

not to say

they

can’t be

about

art or love or zen or adventure

too

for they are all

a part of life

and we all

 share the same planet

and

i don’t judge

and

i like to dance

and

wear costumes

and

all the rest

but i figured

chances are

 the company

has never really read my blog

and has no idea

who my audience

really

is

dobrador.com

your audience gives you everything you need. they tell you.

there is no director who can direct you like an audience.

and at long last, the light has returned once more.

“In that distant beginning season, Sun Man’s warm magic flowed over all the land. Whenever he raised his arms, it was day. whenever he lowered them, it was night. The Bee People and the Elephant People and the Tic People loved the rhythm of Sun Man’s light. Their faces crinkled with pleasure in his heat.

But inside the dreamtime, Sun Man grew old. His back grew stiff and his knee joints ached. He rose later and later each morning. He napped soon after breakfast and went to bed in the afternoon.

“What’s going on here?” complained Grandfather Mantis. “I’m not getting heat anymore.” Grandfather Mantis sent the Bird People to find out. The Bird People returned, rumpled and solemn. Darkness was everywhere, even though it was supposed to be daytime. “Sun Man is getting old,” they explained. “This shining all the time is getting too much for him.”

“Well, I’m old,” snapped Grandfather Mantis. “Doesn’t stop me.”

His wife raised her eyebrows but said nothing.
