In the lee of Lake Erie we defined “snow days” as those with more than “inches”. They used to clear the snow with front loaders and dump trucks. The practice fields at the high school became a mountain of snow that didn’t finish melting until the dogwoods bloomed. This was, of course, before lawyers made school districts afraid to carry on.
