content.

Standard

happened upon

this friendly-looking tree

deep in the woods

 so content and jolly

i think it would love to share its jokes.

“i never saw a discontented tree.

they grip the ground as though they liked it,

and though fast rooted, they travel about as far as we do.”

daily specials.

Standard

(not my breakfast, but how i imagine it to look if i had ordered the daily specials)

how fun to discover

that one of my favorite breakfast places

has changed up their menu a bit

(maybe now that the students are back on campus?)

adding 11 ‘breakfast beers’

and a daily special of

cake and ice cream

“celebrate everyday like your birthday!”

what’s not to celebrate?

“i discovered a meal between breakfast and brunch.”

tiny.

Standard

we are so tiny

the size our worries should be

nothing in the scheme

“i believe everyone should have a broad picture of how the universe operates and our place in it.

it is a basic human desire.

and it also puts our worries in perspective.”

look up.

Standard

even if

there is not a bird meeting

going on way up high and overhead

it’s good to be aware

   have a plan

for when the sentinels

guarding their castle

make their move.

“there’s always a reason to look up.”

all artists.

Standard

love wandering around the town

discovering artists’ work

left in unexpected places

a sudden inspiration

using what they found

“i don’t think there’s anything in this universe as powerful as the power of an artist to create.

by that logic, we are all artists, aren’t we?”

-malcolm fernandes

spirited.

Standard

fifteen months old

back to the baby book we go

another precursor to my future

pretty accurate then and now.

not so much the running.

“walks and runs real well. understands almost anything you tell her. climbs on everything.

also started kissing at 15 months.”

– my mom

“once we believe in ourselves, we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight,

or any experience that reveals the human spirit.”

– e. e. cummings

life is messy.

Standard

my favorite soft and worn shirt

kind of sums up my whole day.

teriyaki everywhere

a trail of drips

followed me down the hall

leaving a mark

the scene of a fresh crime.

some days are just like that.

tomorrow i’ll start again

i’ll eat something without sauce

wear something soft and worn

hoping for a return to comfort.

“living is messy”

pda. (pandemic dating adventures)

Standard

it’s been an adventure to say the least.

(not saying who is who, but we unmasked for the photo)

“dating isn’t just about dating anymore. you are picking your potential apocalypse partner. choose wisely, folks.”

dragonheart.

Standard

what did i find at the farmer’s market?

lots and lots of berries, zucchini, tomatoes, farmers, pies, flowers, herbs, honey, bread,

and one tiny dragon.

“one does not need the size of a dragon to have the soul of a dragon. “

– robin hobb
