tools and toys and trucks wait in winter
for the children to return
to see what new ideas
they can create together come spring.

If the flowers blooming doesn’t tell you, it is springtime, the orange traffic cones blooming sure will.

Sandboxes are such a great space for imaginative play. I played in one as a kid (old tractor tire) and my kids did, too (one Randy built from wood).

“construction of wonders.” Sigh. Gorgeous use of words and imagery. And yes, I guess I need to be more patient, waiting for spring, playtime, and wonders!

That sandbox will be full of activity and creativity soon. This construction off-season allows for new plans to be made, as well as give those tools and trucks a chance to rest up for when construction resumes.

The sandbox is such a rich metaphor, and along with its expansive meaning, the word is shrouded in memories. xxoo, C

I heard a rumor that there were problems with the union and the bosses were having difficulty reaching a contract. The union wants more sand and the bosses keep looking at the construction site and asking, “Where are you going to put it? You are NOT throwing it at each other!!!” Never easy…

And it’s important to include the local cats in the negotiations

Those are the bosses, though they like to keep that under wraps.
