what a wonderful way to relax
ending a long day with a beautiful book
all about finding your comfort
settling in at last
not a care in the world
tucked into my warm cocoon
until
the book’s spell
works a little too well on me
and i am very suddenly and very rudely awakened
right out of my comfort zone
after falling asleep and dropping the book on my face
hard.
it should come with a warning.

I always had a bedtime book, and on so many occasions had to go to work with no sleep because I so badly needed to read to the end. Somehow, a Kindle Tablet doesn’t have the same hold over me. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

I fell asleep into my book last night … I’m ok, it was a soft landing …

A kindle falling on the floor or one’s face – though lighter than a book – still can jolt a person awake. But for Matt Haig, I would definitely stay awake…

I’ll bet it’s jarring. Yes, ever since I read the midnight library…

I just read my horoscope for the day before crawling into bed and am comforted by the thought that none of it happened.
Probably nothing to do with your post …….

Love this. I too have that problem. Nowadays I wouldn’t take Ayn Rand’s Atlas shrugged or Proust’s Le temps perdu to bed with me….. one fancy cookerybook, a hardback nearly broke my nose….

I‘m still cooking! 😉
I also never cooked from a cookery book but LOVE to stroll through them, read the stories, and gorge on the wonderful photographs.

While it sounds like a wonderful read, that is a rude awakening! I’m not the type to fall asleep when reading, so I am safe on that front…

I’ve fallen asleep while reading a book, not getting bonked, but losing my place. I will need to check this book out.

I don’t hit the bed until I’m ready to sleep. I try to maintain a sleep-friendly environment.

Ouch, Beth! I’ve had that happen before. Words can just smack you (or in my case, arms went to sleep with rest of body). I’m interested in that book and glad you’re ok! 💛
