until
it happens in september

the band wearing lederhosen
plays

happy national tv dinner day!
so much fun and so easy!
on christmas 1968, the apollo 8 crew feasted almost just like home on frozen tv dinners. mini bottles of brandy were included but they opted out to play it safe – no space hangovers, and left them unopened.

coming home
we happened upon
yet another
surprise festival
downtown
‘dancing in the streets’
with
cellos playing rock and ballads
hot zydeco
jewish youth band
belly dancers
maypole colors
lone violinist
swing
ballroom
the horah
swaying
spinning
circling
hopping
dipping
instruments for kids to touch
drawing people into the street
for
movement
and
dance
creating
eclectic groups
new pairings
unlikely partners
happy faces
and
it was pretty sweet.

i think the universe is pure geometry – basically,
a beautiful shape twisting around
and dancing over space-time.

behold the bounty that is my late summer harvest!
even if it is all miniature
it’s the first time
i’ve ever grown a vegetable
in my entire life
and so
it’s all perfect and i’m perfectly happy.
fairy-sized or not.

do not let your grand ambitions stand in the way
of small but meaningful accomplishments.
we lie around
on a rainy afternoon
listening to the radio
to hear
one of us
a first-time storyteller on npr
as she shares with the nation
her bittersweet tale
there are 11 people of all ages
4 dogs of all shapes
with all
the food, drinks, games
and
good cheer
we could possibly need
and no timeline or agenda
on this long lazy weekend
all tucked in together
in 1 cozy house
on 1 pretty lake
and all that
equals
1 huge level of comfort.
