at the haunted house
while waiting to enter
the performances began
monsters
pumpkin head
evil clowns
lasers, smoke
even a bad dj – (‘diablo -international dj’)
like being caught up
in a campy carnie rave party
and then
we went in
for a long stretch of terror
adrenaline pumping
my startle response at full tilt
a creepy clown jumped out of the dark near me
my reflex reaction was a quick punch to its face
(the clown bent over in pain, and i felt so bad i hugged it!)
the man behind me said
‘i thank you for that, now i feel safe’
we continued on
through a creepy water illusion room with an uneven floor
a tight fabric tunnel we had to push our way through
spider webs sticking to our faces
monsters crawling on the floor
mirrors, doors, ramps, screaming, darkness, banging, running
quite a wild ride
but we made it out intact
and my heart is beginning to calm a bit.

If my wife saw a scary clown, I think she would go into cardiac arrest! She is afraid of the friendly ones. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

What happened to a good old fashioned Halloween where you rang a doorbell and said, “Trick or Treat”?

I don’t know why I find it hilarious that you felt so bad you had to hug the clown you just punched in the face. But I love your punch first, hug later approach. I want you on all my haunted house adventures.

I know, I can’t believe I did that, but it was my ‘go to’ response when I was in imminent danger! )

Very descriptive. You made me glad I wasn’t there. Not sure I could have punched that evil clown even if I wanted to.

it was just my gut reaction, now I’m probably really doomed to have bad karma with them

I enjoy campy horror. It’s the real stuff that terrifies me. A little adrenaline rush is fine but I’d rather find other ways of making it work.

I have not been in a haunted house for about 45 years. Heck, I have to close my eyes when an amusement park ride takes me through a darkened tunnel in case something is going to jump out at me! My adrenaline went in overdrive just reading your descriptions!

I think the last haunted house I was in was at Disneyland. I love that you punched the clown, poor guy. Good reflexes.

“campy carnie rave party” this and the clown punch, had me roaring with laughter, yet to be clear, I would not be found inside this haunted house. Too scary. 😱😳

Where is TMZ when you need them? I’d pay money for that footage of you punching a clown.🤣

right in the face! I’m probably banned for life or have even worse karma with clowns from now on. I did hug it after because I felt bad. my desire to survive is quite strong apparently.
