go and dig.

Standard

it began

with a look around the science room

taking a closer glance

at amazing natural treasures

honeycombs, footprints, nests

when suddenly

someone discovered

a hidden hole in the rug

everyone rushed to see  this

very rare and incredible curiosity!

‘the biggest quest to learn anything is curiosity. if you are curious about something, you will go and dig.’

questions and ideas.

Standard

while on our recent visit to the farm

one of the 3-year old kinder

asked the farmers why the windmill wasn’t spinning

after a short discussion about the wind and movement

he put it all together and was happy to know the answer.

when we sat next to each other on the bus for our return to school

he turned to me with a big smile and said,

“you know, i just love, love, love learning.”

and it almost brought me to tears.

“the capacity to learn is a gift; the ability to learn is a skill; the willingness to learn is a choice.”

window of opportunity.

Standard

if you look closely

just to the left

of the little blue suitcase

 you’ll find

a curious young boy

hiding amongst

the summer holiday

window display

the best part of it all

safe behind the glass

peeking out into the world

eyes open and full of wonder.

“if a window of opportunity appears, don’t pull down the shade.”

merit.

Standard

so proud to be a member from way back

of the ‘look it up club’

i was very shy and quiet

but once i learned to read

the world opened up to me

i ‘mastered’ the encyclopedia

and never stopped looking things up.

“true merit, like a river, the deeper it is, the less noise it makes.”

-edward wood, 1st Earl of Halifax

be curious.

Standard

each one with her own strength

by working as a team.
