my favorite ads on nextdoor this week:

-FREE- round table, terrible condition (see above)

-FREE – old milk crate (very dirty)

in good shape except for being really filthy

—

(at least i think they are priced fairly)

midnight diner (the show).

Standard

beautiful, beautiful, beautiful opening score for ‘midnight diner’

—

i discovered this show last year and was instantly taken in

each episode like a small movie in itself

a tiny diner

simple meals and wisdom

served up by

a quiet, wise, and mysterious owner

short stories with twists

 resolutions that play themselves out

as they were meant to

filled with eccentric characters

many on the fringe of society

 connected in unexpected ways

all are welcome

the stories are filled with humanity

 unfolding slowly

as a sense of zen and calm

come over you when watching it

not to be missed.

—

in japanese with english subtitles

reviews and comments about this show frequently include the words:

calming, hopeful, soothing, wise, warming, comfort, saved me, comfortable, human

midnight diner.

Standard

it’s not really a weekend at the lake house

with a group of friends

until someone

finds whatever they can

late at night

to saw through the plastic

and chop off a chunk of something in the kitchen.

not the light.

Standard

when people continue to push the wrong button

over and over and over again

attempting to turn out the light

 opening the garage door instead

it’s clear they need more help

and calls for drastic measures.

they may not be sure what this is

but at least

they are now sure what it is not.

-sir arthur conan doyle

“for this,
let gardens grow, where beelines end,
sighing in roses, saffron blooms, buddleia;
where bees pray on their knees, sing, praise
in pear trees, plum trees; bees
are the batteries of orchards, gardens, guard them.”
― Carol Ann Duffy, The Bees
