a wish for my students on their last day.
“there is nothing wrong with loving the crap out of everything.
negative people find their walls.
so never apologize for your enthusiasm.
never.ever.ever.

midnight diner (the show).
beautiful, beautiful, beautiful opening score for ‘midnight diner’
—
i discovered this show last year and was instantly taken in
each episode like a small movie in itself
a tiny diner
simple meals and wisdom
served up by
a quiet, wise, and mysterious owner
short stories with twists
resolutions that play themselves out
as they were meant to
filled with eccentric characters
many on the fringe of society
connected in unexpected ways
all are welcome
the stories are filled with humanity
unfolding slowly
as a sense of zen and calm
come over you when watching it
not to be missed.

midnight diner.
it’s not really a weekend at the lake house
with a group of friends
until someone
finds whatever they can
late at night
to saw through the plastic
and chop off a chunk of something in the kitchen.

“midnight happiness is eating at 2am”

not the light.
when people continue to push the wrong button
over and over and over again
attempting to turn out the light
opening the garage door instead
it’s clear they need more help
and calls for drastic measures.
they may not be sure what this is
but at least
they are now sure what it is not.

“there is nothing more deceptive than an obvious fact.”

for texas. and everywhere.
“the world is indeed full of peril and in it there are many dark places.
but there is much that is fair.
and though, in all lands,
love is now mingled with grief,
it still grows, perhaps the greater.”
