my friend and i set off for a walk in saginaw forest

sadly the tornado had taken down some of the trees

we climbed around and over

made our way through the paths

avoiding the lumberjacks and tree doctors

tending to the wounded and lost

as a bonus we also avoided the wood chipper

where those that could not be saved met their fate

after the forest

breakfast at the Korean cafe

brought a rainbow

 sent through the window

 right into my cup.

 two pre-teen grandies

and me

hearts pumping, adrenaline spiking

three generations

shrieking and running the whole way through!

another try at hiking on the sleeping bear dunes point trail
this time not the long forced dune march like in the spring
instead
some dune, beautiful views,  waving grass, soft forest paths
and a real trail.

crossing the continental divide

 into the pacific region

for a visit to canto del rio and a hike into the cloud forest

one of the most unique environments in the world

surviving on costa rica’s mountaintops

incredibly quiet and powerful

the cloud forests are formed by a combination of wind and geography.
