and i am very happy today

as i imagine

this is what it looks like outside.

and then i will go outside.

and i will keep imagining.

and in a few months

it will look like this

and then i will

praise the power

of the imagination

for making things come true.

as we celebrate the life of one hero, martin luther king –

is it us?

or does anyone else

see the irony

in

a 10-minute limit

for parking

at a post office?

why do they

threaten us

with an

unknown

punishment

(maybe having to work a shift there?)

if we are

still parked in their lot

after 10 minutes

and then

force us

to stand in line

for 45 minutes?

i could lose your mail for half of that.

 i’ve been wondering.

were

greenland and iceland

 somehow

mixed up in the naming process?

was the paperwork confusing?

did no one

catch the error until it was too late?

did someone

not have their glasses on?

was there a translation issue?

why did they not fix it ?

 my theory is

that it would have been

too expensive and too much bother

to change all of the logos on the cocktail napkins

once they had already been printed.

a few minutes ago every tree was excited, bowing to the roaring storm, waving, swirling, tossing their branches in glorious enthusiasm like worship. but though to the outer ear these trees are now silent, their songs never cease.
