nothing i love better

than to see

children, adults, pets, families

in

wagons

strollers

on foot

on bicycles

walking

running

skipping

being carried.

stopping by

to pay a visit

to the fairy garden

in all four seasons.

chatting

playing

smiling

bringing gifts

acting out stories

taking tokens

noting changes

moving things

telling secrets

making memories

leaving special things behind.

spending a little quiet time

with the fairies

before they head

back into life

in a

busy grown-up world.

child of the pure, unclouded brow
and dreaming eyes of wonder!
though time be fleet and I and thou
are half a life asunder,
thy loving smile will surely hail
the love-gift of a fairy tale.

yes, it’s true,

there was a moment this week

when i realized

i was

having a real text conversation

with my adult daughter

about who won the unicorn horn

(i think i did)

and

wondering where it was.

mg reads the paper

and has stopped noticing

when pieces

are cut out of a page

and

tucked away

waiting to be used

 for my art collage projects.

he just reads around them

without questioning

what was there

and why

it’s no longer there

and

it’s clear

that

we have

a real easy

 comfort level

between us.

two aussie grandies

heads topped with bouncing blonde hair

all settled into their new home in america

go out and rescue

rwo smooth black velvet-covered cats

who were waiting and hoping

to settle into their own new home

and soon

they all share a space

and

it is

very comfortable and warm

for all of them

just in time

for christmas.

 this is certainly

the gift that just keeps on giving.

thanks so much for

the ceramic cowgirl boot vase.

i have never owned one,

let alone know how much i needed one.

it truly has found its place

in my cottage

this holiday season,

mini static-ridden styrofoam balls and all.

it will soon hold a place of honor

as the centerpiece

at our upcoming

badass bookclub brunch and board meeting.

after that,

who knows

where it may go?

this boot is made for walkin’.

when universes collide.
